Nanaimo Crane Operator Classes - For the supervisors and the operators, current and new, the crane operator training course is suitable for all. Course content addresses applicable provincial, state and federal safety regulations. The first part of training consists of comprehensive in-class instruction and test. Following that is a hands-on customized session with practical lessons and evaluation.
Course content applies to all categories and types of overhead lifting devices. Specific instruction would concentrate on aspects of crane operation utilized at the trainee's workplace. Upon completing the course, people training will know how to operate specific overhead lifting machines, related parts and attachments efficiently and safely.
The operator course's objective is to first identify and potentially dangerous operator habits that may develop while an individual operates an overhead crane. Costly damage to products and equipment can be avoided with correct practices. Training reduces the possibility of a workplace injury or incident happening.
The course would encompass around eight hours of classroom instruction with a couple of hours of hands-on customized, on-site training. Participants are graded on their knowledge of training material via written testing and an evaluation of their practical knowledge. The minimum acceptable score is eighty percent.
During the in-class session, participants would learn applicable legislation and guidelines, causes of damages and occurrences, internal responsibility, danger awareness, capacity ratings/load weight calculations, design principles and basic equipment, pre-shift equipment checks, safe hoisting/operating techniques, equipment applications/rigging, kinds of hardware, hitches and angles, pedestrian/operator safety, hand signals for slingers and operators, turning/flipping loads safely.
The practical training and evaluation portion of the course should be pre-scheduled. This customized portion of the training will be held at the trainees' facility. The duration of this practical training component is one to two hours. The instructor will train two operators at a time on skills like safe operation, planning the lift and right rigging practices.
Upon completing the practical operating instruction and evaluation and the in-class instruction, the trainee will write a test. Signed safety rules would be needed from each and every participant. Individual wallet certificates would be given to successful trainees. The company would be given a framed wall certificate.
